Single Crochet Coozy
Size G (4.5 mm) crochet hook
2 colors of of 4-ply worsted weight yarn (or as many colors as you choose) - trim color and main
color.
Row 1: With trim color chain 2. This will start the bottom. Work 6 sc in second chain from
hook (the 1st chain). Slip stitch to join into both loops of
1st sc. Ch 1.
Work through both loops of the stitch except where noted.
Row 2: Work 2 sc in each sc - 12 sc. Slip stitch into 1st sc to join. Ch 1.
Row 3: Work 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc,* 1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc* repeat between
* around - 18 sc. Slip stitch into 1st sc to join. Ch 1.
Row 4: Work 1 sc in first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc,* 1 sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc* repeat
between * around - 24 sc. Slip stitch into 1st sc to join. Ch 1.
Row 5: Work 1 sc in first 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc,* 1 sc in next 3 sc,
2 sc in next sc* repeat between * around - 30 sc. Slip stitch into 1st sc to join. Ch 1.
Row 6: Working in back loops only (only this row), work 1 sc in each sc around - 30 sc.
Change to the main color: Slip the hook through the 1st sc.
Hook the main color and pull a loop of it thru the stitch. On
the wrong side tie the end of the main color yarn to the trim
color. Pull snug and cut the trim color leaving enough to weave
in the end. Slip stitch into both loops of the 1st sc to join.
If using more colors, plan your pattern using this row plus the remaining 16 rows in your design.
Ch 1.
Rows 7-16: Work 1 sc in each sc around - 30 sc.
Change to the trim color as instructed previously. Ch 1.
Row 17: 1 sc in each sc around - 30 sc. Slip stitch into 1st sc to join. Do not ch 1.
Slip stitch into each stitch around.
End by cutting the yarn leaving a tail long enough to weave in. Pull the tail
through the loop on the hook.
Weave in any loose ends and trim yarn.
Note: If using Christmas colors, it is fun to do the final slip stitching with some fuzzy white yarn. |
